Positive Behavior In School
At Malcolm, our students pledge to be polite, positive and respectful. They come prepared to learn each day and do their best. Our Malcolm Motto is that we: respect ourselves, respect others, and respect property.
PBIS is a program designed to encourage positive behavior in school. The goal is for compliments to outweigh corrections by 3 to 1. We understand that behaviors requiring correction will occur. Behaviors infractions are categorized as Levels 1, 2, or 3.
Typically, Level 1 referrals result in a student generated letter to parents. Level 2 referrals receive teacher contact and classroom based consequences. Level 3 infractions, receive administrative consequences. Ms. Mooring addresses Level 3 referrals for Pre- Kindergarten through second grade students, as well as bus referrals, and Mrs. Finneran addresses Level 3 referrals for third through fifth graders.
Each quarter, students who are "Referral Free" will be invited to attend a celebration. Overall, PBIS program is designed to build great character and personal responsibility in an effort to reduce undesired behaviors.
